Most of the backgrounds are actually 3D tf2 & Gmod backgrounds, i sometimes edit them in Hammer adding certain props and furniture (mostly old timey stuff, like old school 50s and 60s TV's and couches)
Generally i try not to 100% copy the original maps and try my best to simply use them as guides.
